COMMUNITY STORIES: ALINA MORSE

Being raised in a small town and attending public school I have always been exposed to diverse and unique perspectives.

My upbringing has provided very important insights into how to lead and build a strong team with priority to different viewpoints.

I decided to attend Michigan State University because of the opportunity to study finance and entrepreneurship as well as being the daughter of an Alum.

I have been running my business for over 9 years and although it started organically and philanthropically I have grown to love the backend side of business.

This experience drew me to studying finance coupled with my minor in entrepreneurship to merge two of the industries I am passionate about.

I make zero-sugar, allergen-free, diabetic friendly, KETO, natural, delicious candy that cleans your teeth! I founded my company in 2014 and have been selling for over 9 years.

The bank teller offered me a sugary lollipop– my parents always told me I shouldn't eat candy because sugar is terrible for your teeth– so I asked them

“Why can’t we make a healthy candy that's good for my teeth?”

I began researching and learned that tooth decay was the single greatest epidemic facing kids in America according to the US Surgeon General. Tooth decay is a preventable disease in most cases and I knew I wanted to do something to combat this so…

My goal is to help educate kids through schools about oral health care and entrepreneurship! Last year we donated over 4 million Zollipops to kids through schools (16,000 participating schools).

This is my “Why”.

Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I have lacked a peer network of fellow entrepreneurs and students. When the opportunity to join Student-Made arose I knew I had to partake.

Through selling in the markets I want to expand my distribution campus-wide and share my products with more students not just on MSU’s campus but on campuses across the nation.

Being an entrepreneur for over half of my life I have always juggled being a student and working full time.

Through Student-Made, I have found entrepreneurs I can relate to which has enriched my freshman year experience.

As I am studying finance and Entrepreneurship I would love to continue my business postgrad but beyond that I am very interested in consulting, public speaking, and philanthropic work.

I foresee utilizing them for years to come.

I hope to add helpful insights and experience in the consumer packaged goods industry to the community. I love to act as both a mentor and a mentee in such incredible collectives such as the Student-Made community.

As we continue to expand product lines, grow our team, increase national and international distribution, and collect accolades, we foresee great growth.

Submit the form in your Resource Portal to let us know your interest in sharing your journey with our Student-Made community— whether you’re a Creator or Manager! We’ll be in touch with you soon about helping you craft your inspiring story.
