FAQs
-
Our studies run for 2 months, and provide you a detailed report on how many student businesses are interested in participating, how many managers have expressed interest, viable campus partnerships to help promote the shop, and the step by step logistics of getting up and running based on our findings.
-
We try to organize our launches of new campuses into the beginning of the Fall Semester and Spring Semester. On average, we can create and launch the program in about 3-4 months. This mostly depends on how quickly the campus legal team can approve our contract.
-
We work with many entrepreneurship centers with 1-3 staff members, that do not have much additional bandwidth to dedicate to Student-Made. We’ve built this program to be managed by our team— as we recruit student businesses, train managers, and address any operational challenges. With this being said, we love working closely with our partners and welcome collaboration.
-
A ‘Program Manager’ from our Student-Made team will be assigned to your campus branch to oversee operations, and work directly with creators and managers to ensure a positive experience for all parties involved. They will also hold monthly check-in meetings with your team.
-
Student-Made does not compensate the Student-Manager Team. The University Partner has the choice of compensating managers, and we have seen this vary from campus to campus. Some schools offer this is a volunteer position, some offer internship or class credit and some make these paid positions.
-
Since the shops are run by students, the shop feature of the website closes when they are on breaks. This allows them to not only take a break, but step back and spend time reflecting on their accomplishments. It also allows creators to focus on new inventory for the Fall re-launch. However, the website with info about the program will always be live.
THE Launch PROCESS
-
After receiving your interest form, we will meet with you to discuss all aspects of the program, and confirm your launch date preference.
-
After our initial meeting, we will provide you with our contract to review, which will need to be signed prior to program creation.
-
Once the contract is submitted, we will provide a step-by-step launch timeline that includes marketplace creation, creator on- boarding, and manager recruitment.
-
Congrats, we are officially ready to launch! This means the online marketplace has been published, students' products have been uploaded, managers are meeting as a team, and promotion is underway.
