COMMUNITY STORIES: ADDI VILLEGAS

Pflugerville is right in between Austin and Round Rock. Growing up, I had the privilege of exploring Austin and finding myself enamored by the city. At the age of 15, I took a job working for the City of Round Rock. I owe my strong professional foundation to this job.

I have found many opportunities for myself on campus, and I could not picture myself going anywhere else.

I am fortunate enough to have figured out what I wanted to study early on. I come from a family of small business owners, and I knew that I wanted to enter the business world as well. I attended a High School that allowed us to take business classes, helping me establish an understanding of what I was getting into.

Since then, I have thrown myself into this world. I am highly involved in the American Marketing Association at Texas State, where I have learned so much that I have been able to take into my role with Student-Made.

Student-Made Texas State launched last semester, and it has been a wild ride establishing our brand on campus. My fellow managers are incredible and we have created a dynamic that I am so proud of! We have dealt with many changes over the last semester, and these changes have made us stronger.

I am excited to head into our second semester now that we have more of an established work flow. We plan on creating a space where creators can connect with each other and find a place where they belong on campus!

We were subject to many changes around our manager team, forcing us to regroup often. Though this was an obvious challenge, we were able to grow closer in the end.

Personally, I am super proud of the growth we’ve found in all aspects. Starting from nothing, we have gained 523 followers on Instagram. I am elated to share that statistic as I have worked very hard to grow our social media.

This role has allowed me to get out of my comfort zone and expand my photography experience, establish a system for scheduling, and find my love for entrepreneurship. I am super grateful for all the opportunities Student-Made has provided for me, and I look forward to continuing to discover what all this organization has to offer.

I thoroughly enjoy interacting with our creators. Learning about each creator and seeing them talk about their businesses is beyond inspiring. It is an honor to capture their products and passion!

I think my role as Marketing Manager will help me become a stand-out candidate for post-grad jobs!

I hope to provide joy to the managers and creators that I interact with. I would love to see Student-Made Texas State become well-established on campus!
