COMMUNITY STORIES: KAYDEN AUSTIN

My major is business with a concentration in management. I will be graduating in December 2026.

As Student-Made UNCP enters its second semester, I look forward to seeing it continue to expand at my school. I had the privilege of being a Creator, the Events and Partnerships Manager, and the Campus Manager in our debut semester.

Also, the school of business is going to purchase a kiosk cart for our branch to set out on campus on special Student-Made days. We will be the first branch to implement the idea. This semester, our school has waived the involvement fee, so more Creators feel free to join. With all that is happening at Student-Made UNCP, the organization is a campus community that keeps growing.

The organization's culture precludes any intimidating formalities so that student managers feel comfortable expressing themselves to top management. This 'open-door' environment allows Student-Made to foster innovation.

The idea was quickly passed on to one of the Student-Made Co-Founders who set up a meeting with me and the Program Manager to discuss it further. Both the Co-Founder and the Program Manager actively listened to me and considered my proposal.

I am excitedly awaiting further discussion on the idea that Student-Made top management was so eager to accept.

The Business Visions dinner is a formal event given in the formal events annex at UNCP, the kind where you eat with three forks.

Student-Made UNCP made sales of $1,777 in total. Around $600 of these sales were from my business, EverSoBright, a jewelry brand created to help people celebrate the milestones in their lives.

Student-Made UNCP also had 11 pop-ups, 57 web orders, 84 units sold, 401 Instagram followers, 7 active creators, and 1515 website visitors. After taking this photo, one of our student managers called it the best photo of the year. I could not agree more. The photo is a culmination of all the experiences we shared.

To me, Student-Made has meant personal and professional growth. I have been challenged to achieve and given all the resources to succeed.
