MEET OUR ALUMNI!
Student-Made doesn’t end at graduation.
Our alumni are keeping their businesses going whether full-time or on the side.
See how you can join their entrepreneurial journeys.
Our collegiate program now has over 500 alumni that have learned what it takes to balance a growing business with a full-time college schedule. They have sold at popups, shipped products online, refined their brand and marketing— and now we’ve officially launched our Alumni Program that brings additional support and promotion for these businesses! Look out for new alumni joining every month… and explore what they’re up to as young entrepreneurs out in the world!

Marissa Clouse
Owner of Marissa's Makery
Marissa’s Makery started out as a passion project in late 2023 and quickly turned into something much more! After seeing the joy her plushies brought to others, Marissa decided to start a business selling her creations! When she joined an organization in 2024 called Student-Made, her business took off! She learned new ways to advertise her products, created new products, and made new connections along the way. Marissa focuses on giving each of her customers the best quality plushie! There’s certainly been lots of changes as she continues to perfect her craft, but she’s come a long way from the start.

Caitlyn Melton
Owner of Caitlyn Creates + Whisk Takers
I am so so beyond thankful for everyone who has ever supported me, offered me advice and feedback, taught me how to better my business and who have just been there for me. Being part of Student-Made helped me find my place and my people at USC. It allowed me to continue being creative in ways I didn’t know were possible! I thought I had to put my business on hold when I first came to USC because I didn’t know if there would ever be a chance to keep it alive, but that was possible and SO much more. This is NOT the end of Caitlyn Creates, just the beginning to a new, brighter chapter in my entrepreneurial journey!

Natalie Emerson
Owner of Natalie Faith Studio
I create handmade pottery and ceramic pieces, from mugs and vases to plates, lanterns, and more. With nearly a decade of experience, my work is inspired by the things I love most and thoughtfully crafted to be both beautiful and meaningful. The Student-Made Alumni Program is such an exciting way to bridge where I started as a student creator at NC State with where I’m headed as a small business owner after graduation. ❤️ Student made was the best thing I joined in college and I have enjoyed the great community and cool opportunities offered for my small art biz! 🤩 -

JESSICA KIMES
Owner of Blessed Jess Art
I’m a serial hobbyist, and I remember when I first started working a 9-5, I wasn’t doing much during the week so it felt like I was always just longing for the weekend. So I started thinking hmm how can I fill my week with my things. So now I look forward to all the different nights of the week!! My business features graphic designs printed on mugs, stationery, and candle— and mostly features the small towns around where I grew up in NC. I also dabble in pottery and painting! And I love a slow morning spending time in the Bible and sipping on tea.

My brand is all about bringing stories to life. I use art and writing together to make new stories. Everything I make comes from real experiences even the pieces with fantasy elements. I make artworks and illustrations. I’ve been an artist all my life but have started working professionally in college.
