3 LESSONS YOU LEARN BY DOING
There are some things you can learn from a book, a class, a podcast, etc. And then there are the things you only really understand once you've experienced them for yourself.
That’s one of the things I love most about creating something from nothing. When you take the opportunity to build something, lead something, solve a problem, or simply try something new, the learning becomes different. It becomes personal. And that is the kind of learning that lasts.
Here are the three things I think we learn best by doing…
When you’re creating something from nothing, you are responsible for just about… everything. No one is going to tell you what to post, how to price your items, what to make next, what pop-ups to sign up for, etc. As the creator, you are truly in the driver seat.
You might not know exactly what to do, or what direction to go, but when you’re an entrepreneur you’re forced to learn how to make the best possible decision you can, take responsibility for it, and see what happens.
It’s important to remember that a huge part of this process is being okay with doing, progressing, even if you’re not totally sure if it will be successful.
You might spend weeks developing an idea you're sure people will love, only to discover that customers want something completely different. Or you might create something you're unsure about and discover that it’s your best selling item.
Having real customers and real audiences that give you feedback about your business is one of those things that just can't be replicated in a classroom. Doing teaches you to listen, adapt, and use that feedback to make your offerings more appealing, and your business more successful.
Whether you made your first sale, led a team to success, presented an idea, solved a problem, or simply took something from an idea in your head to something real.
That kind of confidence is different. It's not confidence because someone told you that you could do it. It's confidence because you tried, learned, adapted, and ultimately proved it to yourself.
