COMMUNITY STORIES: TEAGAN TRAYLOR

I grew up at a small Christian Private school from K-12. My small community helped shape who I am creatively because, throughout my time at this school, I was involved in everything. When your community is so small, you get a taste of every kind of extracurricular and hobby.

Thankfully, because of my scholarships, I was able to attend OSU and study what I felt was right for me. The environment at OSU has helped me as a creator because of the number of opportunities that are available.

Throughout my childhood, I had always wanted to go into interior design. Once it was time to decide what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, I chose to study architecture to get a broader degree. I am so grateful that this is the route that I chose because I feel like it is exactly what I’m meant to be studying.

I thrift almost all of my clothes and fabrics, and I sew faith-based designs on them to bring them back to life.

My main source of inspiration behind my business is Jesus Christ. When you learn of the love of Jesus, all you want to do is tell others. So, I combined my love for the Lord with my love for thrifting and decided to make a business with it!

Once I got to college, I realized how little I knew about sharing the gospel and how to talk about this Jesus that I claim to love so much. Now, my business is shaped so that I have an opportunity to talk about the Lord and so that others can as well.

Now, I am so grateful that I randomly filled out that application because I get to meet and talk to so many new people while pursuing something I love. My goal is that more and more people would wear apparel that gives them an opportunity to share the gospel.

Selling at these events has taught me how to step out of my comfort zone to talk about my passions. I also feel like the in-person retail store that is coming to our campus this year will be very impactful as well.

I got to see them all together wearing pieces that I created to be able to spread the joy of Jesus Christ. Student-Made has made that possible for me.

My hope is that being a part of Student Made and promoting my business will prompt Gospel conversations. Yes, it is a nice side hustle. But my main goal is to talk about Jesus and create in a way that will honor Him.

My prayer is that I give this community a sense of confidence to speak about what you believe in. You might get weird looks or snarky comments, but staying rooted in your beliefs is so important.
